Embedded ECG Feature Extraction
PQRST detection and cardiac feature extraction on Atmel AVR microcontrollers using wavelet transforms.
Real-time electrocardiogram analysis implemented on low-power microcontroller hardware: signal acquisition, FIR filtering, discrete wavelet transform decomposition, R-wave detection, full PQRST complex identification, and derivation of heart rate, PR interval, QRS duration and QT interval.
The significance is the platform. Clinically meaningful cardiac feature extraction running on hardware costing a few euros and drawing milliwatts opens the way to genuinely portable and wearable monitoring — including in settings where conventional equipment is not available.
